Time flies when you are having fun and learning new skills
I apologize for the long gap since my last post. I haven’t done very well in keeping you updated on my progress, whether it’s on planning my next adventure or mastering the creation and publication of this site and blog.
Let’s begin with a brief update on the latter…
Building a website and blog
This is all new to me, so I’m learning as I go. I had never created anything in WordPress before and didn’t even know how to purchase my own domain when I started. However, I’ve found my way through the initial steps. I now have my domain and am learning how to build the site and its various functionalities as I populate it. By reading up on each part and using trial and error, it’s starting to take shape, and I’m quite pleased. I’ve created a basic structure and started adding a few posts. The structure might change as I clarify my vision, but for now I think it works.
Creating my logo
I have spent quite a bit of time designing a logo for the site, which was surprisingly enjoyable. Since I hadn’t done anything like this since beginning my studies, I took a short Illustrator course to refresh my basic skills. The result is simple yet exactly what I envisioned.

My pictures
I’ve decided to use only my own photos for the site. It feels like the right choice. Fortunately, I have plenty to choose from. I hope you’ll enjoy them and find inspiration. Now, I just need to learn how to optimize their presentation on the site. I’m currently exploring how to create sliders to share multiple images on certain topics without making the pages too long. No one wants to scroll endlessly, and as I said; I really do have a lot to share! ;))
My first stories
Since my last post, we took another trip to Mallorca, this time to celebrate my dad’s 70th birthday. Although it wasn’t our first visit to the island, we explored a new area. My dad rented a house with a pool and a rooftop terrace, perfect for enjoying stunning sunrises and sunsets. I must admit I went into full holiday mode and did not manage much in terms of updates on Instagram, Facebook, and this site. I’m working on sharing recommendations and experiences from the trip. Stay tuned for insights on beaches, hikes, and more in my recent adventures section.
Instagram and facebook
I’ve been sticking with the old-school approach, using Facebook to share our travel stories for a very long time. I decided not to join another platform, knowing it could become a time sink, and preferred to focus on other activities. Therefor I did not even have a instagram profile untill recently.
It’s been wonderful, enjoying Facebook’s reminders of past adventures. However, for sharing our travel experiences and advice more broadly, Facebook doesn’t feel quite right. So, I’ve finally created an Instagram profile to share our travels in a less wordy way than on this site while we are travelling. As I’m learning how to utilise this platform which is new to me (hard to believe, right?), I hope you’ll forgive my initial lack of skill – which I am sure will be obvious for a while still.
